Photo Finish, 8 Golds, Ho Hum

I still think the Lezak relay finish was better, but Michael Phelp's photo finish in the 100-meter butterfly should have been the end of the Olympics. End the games on a high note. Speaking of, was anyone let down last night when NBC decided to show an entire Women's Marathon? The worst part? I watched the whole thing.

I was really surprised that they showed SO much of the women's marathon as well, and I, like you, watched it. I don't think I've ever watched it in the previous years and because of that I was excited about the finish because I didn't know they ended the race in the stadium. It gave me goosebumps as the woman from Romania made her way into the stadium as everyone was cheering. It was really exciting.

I wish they would show more in the evenings. I'm a little burnt out from watching Beach Volleyball, Swimming, and gymnastics. Where are all the other sports? I'm glad Track and Field just started.

Where's Ashley, by the way. I miss her! She hasn't blogged in .. forever! I mean, seriously, look what she's doing to me. I have to read YOUR blog instead.

agreed. I got sucked into watching the whole thing too. I can't believe how fast they run. I cried when the Romanian woman ran into the stadium by herself. It was a surreal moment. I swore I had no interest in the games and yet I have been glued to the tv every night.

Stefanie, I know what you mean. I can't wait until Ashley starts posting again. She gets back in town on Tuesday (has been away visiting family and friends), but I have no idea when she'll get around to her next blog entry.

I was at a wedding party at a restaurant and I was bummed the TVs with the marathon were out of view. Yes, watching anything more than the last 5 minutes of a marathon is absolutely absurd, but I totally wanted to watch it! During the 2 minutes we did watch it (in line for our food), my eyes were glued to the screen and I just kept saying, "Christian--look how fast they're running! And they run that fast the whole time! They're so fast!" And he kept giving me the obligatory "Uh huh." What a good husband. I was so sad I missed it all. Especially the finish.

Phelps' finish in the butterfly was one that would have gotten him yelled at by his coach if he was 12 years old and hadn't nicked that one hundredth of a second win...great race though, seriously crazy to watch. My favorite moment of it though was his mom's face as she saw the scoreboard, while holding up 2 fingers for finishing second!
